7 activities and trips with children in Mainz

If you look for destinations for children in Mainz, you will find on most sites only boring sights that no child wants to see. We have put together a small list of activities in Mainz that the little ones will definitely enjoy.

Mainz also scores with its own ceramics workshop. Here, children of all ages can select finished ceramic goods such as plates, mugs, bowls, but also small figures, and paint them. Then the finished work of art is fired by the staff and can be picked up a few days later.

Tip: It is worth making an appointment, because especially on weekends the painting plant is fully booked weeks in advance.

Kletterhalle Blockwerk Mainz

At Blockwerk Mainz, children as young as 6 can boulder and climb independently. The prerequisite is that they have taken a "bouldering license" in a course. However, the little ones can still take part in a trial course and find out whether bouldering is something for them.

Those who like to play minigolf in the dark can also try the black light minigolf in downtown Mainz. Here, 3D effects provide the necessary excitement.

Tip: The minigolf is not suitable for very young children who are afraid of the dark. Children with photosensitive epilepsy should also clarify in advance whether the visit is safe.

There is no age limit for the miniature golf course in the People's Park. Here you can earn many hours with the little ones. An ice cream parlor also provides on-site catering. And if you want to have a picnic right away, you can sit down ten meters away in the Volkspark.

Tip: The season doesn't start again until March when the weather is nice.

Directly in front of the Vivo Restaurant in the Volkspark there is a large playground, where big and small will have fun in the summer. Right next to it is also a dance floor, where sometimes dance classes of the surrounding dance clubs take place. Just a few meters away there are also table tennis tables, a basketball court and an area to play boules. So there is something for every age.

Children's tours and workshops at the Landesmuseum Mainz

If you don't know how to spend a rainy afternoon or evening with children, you can take advantage of what the Landesmuseum Mainz has to offer. Here, guided tours and workshops are offered especially for children. A flashlight tour is also included.
